DARPA laser scanning: Bending light with a microchip

DARPA demonstration of optical phased array technology could lead to greatly enhanced capabilities for numerous military and commercial technologies, including autonomous vehicles, robotics, sensors and high-data-rate communications.
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has demonstrated solid-state optical phased array technology in a microchip, bringing the ability to bend light to the battlefront.
