Gamers around the world are eagerly awaiting the release of CD Projekt Red’s Cyberpunk 2077, a game the company first teased in 2012. The release was recently pushed back from April to September 2020, but the hype had not subsided. Nvidia is pushing the hype even higher with a new limited edition video card. It produced just 200 GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Cyberpunk 2077 Edition graphics cards, and you might be able to win one.
If you are at all interested in the Cyberpunk aesthetic, this video card is a thing of beauty. It features a custom AL5052 aluminum cooling shroud that wraps around the back and sides of the card. It’s bright yellow like the Cyberpunk 2077 logo that is plastered right in the middle of the backplate. The custom body also has etching that looks like the biotech implants Cyberpunk characters use in the game.
There’s nothing new about the video card itself. It’s the same GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Founders Edition (FE) card Nvidia has sold for $1,200. There are other versions of the same GPU from companies like Asus and EVGA. Those cards might be slightly faster, cooler, or quieter, but they’re even more expensive.
The tie-in makes sense because Cyberpunk 2077 is touted as the most complex and dynamic in-game world ever created. The RTX 2080 Ti FE is one of the most powerful GPUs available (at least for now), and it’ll take a lot of graphical power to do Night City justice. That’s allegedly why CD Projekt Red had to delay the release — it needs more time to optimize the game on current-gen consoles.
Of the 200 Cyberpunk 2077 Edition cards, Nvidia is giving 77 of them away to gamers. If you want your shot at winning a card, you’ll have to enter the RTXOn sweepstakes before February 28th. Here’s how to do it:
- Head to the GeForce Twitter, Instagram or Facebook pages, and retweet, like or comment on #RTXOn sweepstakes posts
- Reply to the post you chose by following the prompt and saying something positive about a fellow gamer, tag them, and include #RTXOn in your reply
If your post is chosen as a winner, both you and the fellow gamer you tag will get the limited edition cards. Your chances of winning are minuscule, but you won’t be able to buy this card anyplace.
